g. roslie’s ModScape series - ‘indigo ridge’
each one-of-a-kind ModScape textile art is conceived as a visual experience of a natural landscape found wandering the earth, memorized in the mind’s eye or by photograph & re-created in a minimalist, modern abstract fashion onto a textile art form combining my love of natural places, natural dyeing, textiles, modern design & art. my aim is to create a sense of peace, calm & contemplative reflection through the work i do for both myself and the viewer.
: indigo ridge - an abstract modern expression of a view of the multi layered blue hued mountains viewed from brainard lake recreation area near ward, colorado & the poem that resonates perfectly with this landscape:
STILL and calm,
In purple robes of kings,
The low-lying mountains sleep at the edge of the world.
The forests cover them like mantles;
Day and night
Rise and fall over them like the wash of waves.
Asleep, they reign.
Silent, they say all.
Hush me, O slumbering mountains —
Send me dreams.
